SHOULD I STAY OR SHOULD I GO? - THE CHALLENGE OF RECONCILIATION

with REV DR KEN NEWELL and FR CIARAN O'CALLAGHAN

FITZROY CHURCH

SUNDAY MAY 20th 2018 @ 7.00

It does not seem to me that the Gospels ever give us the impression that peacemaking is an extra curricular pursuit for those who follow Jesus. It seems to be absolutely central. Yet, so many are not involved in peace making or ever reflect on the unique contribution that Jesus followers can make in a divided community.

In this special evening a Presbyterian minister, Ken Newell, and Redemptorist priest, Ciarán O'Callaghan will share their personal stories of coming to terms with what following Christ in a divided community means.

Both have been involved in the world renowned Clonard/Fitzroy Fellowship, a cross denominational group that were awarded the Pax Christi Peace Prize in 1999.

They will analyse what living in Northern Ireland's uniquely fractured society looks like right now and will explore Biblical passages that foster an act of concern for and vocational call to peace and reconciliation.
