Tomorrow morning (11am) in Fitzroy I will be starting a new sermon series on the Psalms of Ascent. During Lent we were journeying through the Travel Narratives of Luke. As they came near Jerusalem and particularly on Palm Sunday I remembered back to the late 80s when at at the First Antrim Convention Robert Amess preached through Eugene Peterson's book Long Obedience in the Same Direction, Peterson's commentary on the Psalms of Ascent which the pilgrims sang on their way up to Jerusalem for the Passover. So they linked. Tomorrow it is Psalm 120. The violent and deceitful world we live in and turning history around. All wrapped up in Youth Band worship.
In the evening (7pm) we will be hearing about the inspirational work of Saphara in India. Working with schools in rural and deprived parts of India and taking teams of Catholic and Protestant students out to those schools it is a wonderful NGO run by our very own Christine Burnett. Two other members of Fitzroy Flo Adair and Cheryl Stafford are also heavily involved. This will be a great night of information and challenge.
