Is there ever a conflict that so divides people in Ireland and around the world?
Just a couple of thoughts about your thoughful surmise.
Yes, I think to curse anyone is wrong; but that does not mean that you can't disagree with what Israel is doing; in fact to be a true friend often you have to speak up when you think someone is doing something morally wrong and counter productive.
There is another history of Christianity; blaming the jews for the death of Jesus and thereby justifying oppression in the past.
We are told to speak the truth with love; remembering too that we are all sinners; we all have a tendency to trust things other than God for our protection;

A bit od a half-baked surmise there I'd say Steve. You failed to mention any reference to the continous provocation inflicted on the stste of Israel by the almost daily rocket attacks launched by Hamas. Would any other sovereign nation tolerate this bombardment for so long without retaliation? I think not,but when Israel eventually makes a military response the world cries "foul" I know there are two sides to any conflict and I am not one who defends every action of Israel but in this case it seems to me to be perfectly reasonable for a state to respond to agression from outside its borders. I mourn the deaths of Iraelis and Palestinians caught up in this conflict. Lets pray that the current ceasefire holds and that goodwill may return to both sides and facilitate a secure and lasting peace.
